I first learned to quail hunt without a bird dog, in 1981 when I started my career as wildlife biologist. The following season I hunted with a friend and his Brittany mix. I enjoyed watching the dog so much, I purchased my first Vizsla in 1983. A friend suggested this breed since it matched my energy level. I have been owned by Vizslas ever since.
My Vizslas are bird dogs and companions first. We also enjoy playing “dog games” . . . hunt tests, field trials, conformation, and agility. Many of my Vizslas are therapy dogs, so we occasionally visit the local nursing homes.
Nothing thrills me more than watching a good bird dog work in the field. I have also had the privilege of helping many novice owners start their dogs on birds, and I enjoy seeing the enthusiasm build in both the dog and owner.
I bred my first Vizsla litter in 2000, when I felt I had enough knowledge to produce first class bird dogs that are healthy, biddable, temperamentally and structurally sound.
